Toothpick Tuesday topics:
Chris is on the camera.
Clare is on the cooking.
Jaimee is on the jeans, jackets and styled jalapeños.
Booktopia isn’t on preorder.
anymore.
I missed last Tuesday. Does it matter? Probably not. A lot’s been happening, like moving house and eating bolognese on polenta fried bread. Plus, it’s been windy, and things are always happening when it’s windy. Like the internet going down, driving with the handbrake on and desperate pad see ews.
But, I’m not too busy to fluff the book. ‘Wind beneath the wings’ it a bit, beyond the cover show. I’m ready, I want to share more with you. I want you to meet the team.
In particular order, this is Clare, (Me), Jaimee and Chris. Also, read as Photo Chef, Stylist and Photographer of Happy Hour Snacks.
This moment is peak wrap. Very cute, very happy, likely delirious. I think I still have that glass Coca-Cola bottle somewhere, or maybe it got smashed in the move along with the harissa. My memory evades me, again, it’s been windy.
Anyway, time to have a good stare at the team.
This is Chris Chen. We shot for 4 x days in her St Peters studio and 1 x on location. A dynamic sensation fit for that ladder, camera and my fake silk jacket.
This is Clare Maguire. She sourced laser-cut ice, crafted focaccia and has executed the art of the perfectly roasted walnut.
This is Jaimee Curdie. Wardrobe purveyor, chief cheese oozer and unbeknown stage and show hands. You see red nail polish, you see Jaimee.
They were all outstanding. What you see in photographs when you hold the book on Sept 3rd (because you’ve pre-ordered already) is their work. It’s so spesh, they’re so spesh!
I decided to pester people with a disposable camera on the shoot, for the printed memories and also so you can get more BTS for your toothpick buck. Plus, it’s nice to see where things came from. Context is healthy and intriguing.
Scroll as much as you want. I’ll probably do a Part II, when it’s windy again.
*** A note on pre-orders on Booktopia:
In case you missed it on Instagram (now on ‘BOOK STUFF’ highlights), Booktopia has unfortunately entered voluntary administration. Sad for Booktopia and all book orders waiting. Safe to say, it’s likely preorders made on Booktopia won’t be arriving. Very sad! If you have placed your order with Booktopia, the next step would be for creditors to follow this link for all enquiries. I’ll keep you in the loop if there are anymore answers.
Fortunately, the book is still available in many places. To make sure you do get a copy of Happy Hour Snacks, PREORDER YOUR COPY HERE, so it can arrive at your door when it’s officially out in your country.
MUCH EXCITEMENT! MUCH MORE LAUNCH INFO TO COME!
